“What should I expect during my first massage session?”
I’ll get you to fill out a brief form on your health history and then ask you a few questions about what areas you would like worked on. I will check your postural alignment and may perform a few simple assessments to evaluate your condition.
“What do I do during a massage?”
The aim is for you to feel comfortable and be able to relax.
During the massage it’s important that you let me know if you want anything changed, the pressure, the areas been worked on, the position you are in or if you are too hot or too cold.
Many people close their eyes and completely relax during a massage session and then some prefer to talk, its entirely up to you.
“Do I have to get completely undressed?”
You should undress to the level you are comfortable.
For a full body massage underwear can be left on and once you are on the table under the drape/towel, I will only uncover the part of your body being worked on.
“Will the massage hurt?”
A relaxation massage uses a lighter relaxing depth of stroke so shouldn’t hurt at all.
A deep tissue massage should provide you with a “good hurt” range and not be too painful that you tighten up as this will negate the relaxing aspect of massage.
“How will I feel after the massage?”
Most people feel pretty relaxed and may feel a little slowed down for a short period of time.
You might then notice an increase in energy over the coming days. If you had deep tissue therapy you might be a little sore for 12-24 hours. A hot shower, or a bath in Epsom salts can ease your pain. DRINKING WATER after a massage is important as it keeps your body’s tissues hydrated.
“How long will the massage last?”
The full body massage lasts 60 minutes. 30 or 45 minutes allows for a partial massage such as shoulders and neck, back or legs and feet.
Build in a bit of relaxation time after the massage.
